Dr. Brown received his M.D. from U.B.C. and interned at the Mayo Clinic.

He was accepted into a six-year residency at the Mayo Clinic where he was Chief Resident in General Surgery and later in Plastic Surgery. He subsequently spent another 2 years abroad on a Royal College Travel Fellowship to study advanced cosmetic surgery techniques with leading surgeons in Paris, Lausanne, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (C), the Americans College of Surgeons, and the International College of Surgeons. He is an active member in the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons.

He was previously the Plastic Surgery Consultant to the television series The X Files.
